Keynote Speakers

Grant Hackett

Widely regarded as one of the greatest long-distance swimmers in history, Grant’s achievements extend beyond the pool. After more than a decade representing Australia at the highest level, he commenced a career in the media, working as a presenter for Channel Nine. He has since gone on to a successful career in the corporate world, where his leadership skills have come to the fore in driving business results. In 2010, he joined Westpac and held roles such as Head of Growth and Head of Priority Markets, before joining Generation Life in 2017, where he has been CEO and Managing Director since 2020.

He also joined other high-profile Australians to launch Headspace in 2006, a major initiative designed to deliver better mental health by providing counselling services for young people aged 12-25.

Grant’s fascinating story will undoubtedly be a highlight of the conference program.

Matina Jewell

Matina Jewell is a military trailblazer with a decorated 15-year career in the Australian Army. Throughout this time, she served on five missions and earned nine war medals, becoming the only Australian to receive two Republic of Lebanon war medals for acts of bravery on the battlefield.

She was appointed Officer in Command of the Army Department and Diving Officer for HMAS Kanimbla, then Australia’s largest Navy ship at age 23.

Matina’s fascinating story includes insights into tracked-down militia leaders in the Solomon Islands and boarding smuggler ships in the Arabian Gulf

Saroo Brierley

Saroo Brierley was born in an Indian town called Khandwa. At the age of five, he got lost and spent three weeks alone on the streets of Kolkata, eventually being placed into a local orphanage where he was adopted by an Australian family. After years of trying to track down his old town, he finally found Khandwa on the map and travelled to India in search of his family. In early 2012, after 25 years apart, he was finally reunited with his birth mother.

Saroo's inspiring story was made into a film called Lion, starring Dev Patel and Nicole Kidman.

Chloë McCardel

Chloë McCardel is a Melbourne-raised Sydneysider who holds multiple marathon swimming World Records. Chloë McCardel is pushing the boundaries of marathon swimming and what the human mind and body can achieve. Described as the greatest ultra-marathon swimmer in history, an inspiration and role model, Chloë aims to achieve the impossible.
